Smilling Big at 2 Months

Anna continues to do very well. She is eating 5-6 ounces at a time and is growing really fast. She weighs almost 8 pounds. All of her recent test have come back normal. Fortunately Anna has survived the begin part of the cold season. Everyone else in our home has had some cold symptoms, but Anna is doing well. On Friday of this week, Anna will get her first dose of a medication to help prevent RSV. This medication is only available to high risk babies. It was shipped to our home and has to be given by a home health nurse. She will continue to get this medication throughout the winter every 28 days. We return to her Pediatrician in 2weeks for another well check-up.

This is my last week of maternity leave. Anna starts day care on Monday morning. I have tried to prepare myself. I have all of her stuff labeled and ready to go. Emotionally I have tried to prepare myself to leave her. I know that it will be difficult but it also a fact that I need to work and that I enjoy my career.

Baptized

Anna had her official baptism ceremony this past Sunday. It was a beautiful day and we were honored to have Father Alfons perform the ceremony with lots of family present. In true form, Anna was very vocal during the ceremony but every time Father touched her or spoke to her she calmed down.

7 Weeks Old

We are growing! At her Doctor's appointment on Tuesday Anna weighed in at 7 pounds 5 ounces. Although this puts her at the bottom 3 percentile for her age, the doctor was very happy with this number. On Monday Anna had a head ultrasound and we are still waiting on those results. Other notes from the doctor. Anna is now receiving medication for her reflux issues. She has a terrible time keeping her formula down so now she is on a medication. We are still dealing with constipation issues so now she will get a bottle with water and brown sugar to try to help her. We tried one today and she loved it although we still have not had any results. At this appointment she did get 3 vaccinations. Anna did very well and Daddy was brave as he held her down. We return to the Pediatrician in one month. In a couple of weeks she will go for her physical therapy and occupational therapy assessment.

Anna went with me this morning to the salon. She was so mesmerized and focused as they were putting the foil on my hair. I have never seen her so attentive. I was joking with the beautician that it was like she was supervising to make sure that everything was perfect.
We are still struggling with sleeping at night but we just take one day at a time. I have gotten really good at functioning on very little sleep, although some days I am better than others. I only have a couple of more weeks before I return to work. I have mixed emotions. In a way I miss the adult stimulation but on the other hand I know that it will be hard to leave Anna. I have had plenty of time to prepare myself so hopefully it will be an easy transition.

6 Weeks Old

I have only posted the pleasant pictures of Anna and I thought that I would provide a picture of what Anna's favorite hobby is: crying.

The last weeks have been full of first. (Not the first I might hope for like the first time we slept for more tan a couple of hours at a time). This weekend the entire family went to the corn maze and pumpkin patch. Strollers are not ideal for corn mazes so we got creative. Lissie walked, Jill rode in a back-up with David and I carried Jill in a snugly on my front. We actually had a really good time. On Sunday, David, Lissie and Anna went to see a movie while Jill and I went to a craft show. Anna has mastered “shut-down mode”. Whenever we go someplace crowded or different she tends to just sleep and try not to acknowledge anyone. She sleeps so soundly and usually does not make a noise. This is great when we are out but we always pay for it when we get into the car to head home and she wants to be held and needs 100% attention.
Anna has become more alert and even has periods where she is awake and not crying. She still can go from quiet and content to screaming in a second so you always have to be on your toes. I attempt to try to keep our home clean but it seems that I always get started on something and then she wakes up. I have had to become creative in order to get things done.

The next week is filled with appointments for Anna and I. We hope to continue to get lots of good news!

Best Friends

Well maybe that is a stretch. Jill has become more accustomed to the idea of Anna. She likes to point at Anna and say “Baby”. We still have to keep them separated because I am sure that Jill would like to do more that just point at baby, she would love to grab at her and take her binky.

Baptism

Anna will have the actual ceremony for her Baptism on October 19 at 1:00 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Ottawa, Anyone is welcome to join us for this celebration. This ceremony will be a little different fro a typical baptism. Since she was already baptized, this is just a celebration in recognition of that event. Father Alfons who initially baptized her will be performing the ceremony. We are excited about this big day. When she was initially baptized we were not sure if she would make it to the point were we could celebrate this moment with family and friends.

Out Numbered

Prior to Anna's birth, David and I would always say that we would “divide and conquer”. Now with 3 that is more difficult. As David was reading with Lissie, I did my best to get the babies to sleep.
